VANTAGE ("we," "our," or "us") operates the VANTAGE mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address (if signing up with email)
- Display name
- Password (securely hashed; we never store or have access to your plaintext password)
If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you choose to share through Apple's sign-in process.
Item and Inventory Data
When you use the App to scan and track items, we collect:
- Photos you take or import of items
- Item details generated by AI analysis (brand, description, category, condition, estimated value)
- Prices you enter (purchase price, sale price)
- Item status and tracking information
This data is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
Profile and Preferences
- Profile photo
- Display name
- Currency preference
- Notification preferences
- Monthly profit goal
These are stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Identify items and estimate market values using AI
- Store and organize your inventory locally on your device
- Process in-app subscriptions
- Send local notifications based on your preferences
3. Third-Party Services
Firebase (Google)
We use Firebase for user authentication. Your email address and authentication credentials are processed by Google's Firebase service. Firebase Analytics and Google Ads are disabled in our App. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Gemini AI
When you scan an item, the photo(s) you capture are sent to Google's Gemini AI API to identify the item and estimate its market value. Google processes these images in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We do not store your images on any external server — they are only transmitted to Gemini for real-time analysis and stored locally on your device.
Apple (StoreKit)
Subscription purchases are processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is never shared with us. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local-first approach: Your item inventory, photos, and profile data are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is not synced to any cloud service.
- Authentication security: Passwords are securely hashed by Firebase. Apple Sign In uses industry-standard OAuth with nonce verification.
- Device-level encryption: Data stored on your device is protected by iOS's built-in encryption when your device is secured with a passcode.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Your data is shared with third parties only as described in Section 3 (Firebase for authentication, Gemini AI for item scanning, Apple for payment processing).
6. Your Rights and Controls
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the App. When you delete your account, your Firebase authentication account is permanently deleted and your profile data is removed from the device. Item inventory data remains on your device until you manually delete items or uninstall the App.
Item Deletion
You can delete individual items from your inventory at any time.
Data Export
You can export your inventory data as a CSV file from the App at any time.
Camera and Photo Access
You can revoke camera and photo library permissions at any time through your device's Settings app. The App requires camera access to scan items and photo library access to import existing photos.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete that information.
8. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Item and inventory data: Stored locally on your device until you delete individual items or uninstall the App.
- Scan images sent to Gemini: Processed in real time and not retained by us after analysis is complete. Google's data retention policies apply to data processed by their services.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
